Sumita Beauty & Mac King Giving Back to Girl Scouts

LAS VEGAS  What will you do this summer? Seventeen Girl Scouts departed Wednesday morning, July 6, for a 19-day journey to India. Before taking off on their international adventure, the girls participated in some local Las Vegas fun with Comedy-Magician Mac King and Sumita Beauty.

On Tuesday, July 5, the girls enjoyed some laughter and magic at the Mac King Comedy-Magic Show at Harrah's Las Vegas. King is partnering with the Girl Scouts to help spread his literacy initiative, Mac Kings Magical Literacy Tour, overseas. During their visit, King presented the girls with plaid suitcases full of books.  On behalf of Mac Kings Magical Literacy Tour, the girls will distribute the books to children in India during their journey and spread the love of reading overseas.

Next, the girls headed to Fashion Show Mall where Sumita Beauty, the leader in The Art of Threading , and the Art of Mehndi  welcomed the girls where they received eyebrow threading treatments, traditional henna tattoos and glitter Mehndi designs. They also sampled traditional Indian cuisine. Anamika Tara, business partner to Sumita Batra, CEO, educated the girls on Indian wedding traditions and the importance of the henna tattoo within the Indian culture.

While in India, the girls will visit the cities of Mumbai, New Delhi, Jaipur and Pune with excursions to the Taj Mahal, Elephant Cave, Prince of Wales Museum, Mani Bhawan, Hanging Gardens, Marine Drive, Gateway of India, Chowpati, Victoria Terminus, Church Gate, Tower of Silence, and Dhobi Ghat.

During their stay in Pune at the Girl Scout Sangam World Centre, the girls will spend four days working with three community organizations that focus on services to the poor, women and children. Books donated from Mac Kings Magical Literacy Tour will be presented to Deep Griha, Green Tara Foundation and Maher. Each girl will also be making a $30 (1,330.95 Indian Rupee) donation to be split amongst the organizations.
