A Statewide Giving Day
An Overview and The Goal
- NevadaGIVES is leading a dramatic and engaging annual one day state giving event this fall. The campaign creates opportunities for every charity, community institution and individual to be involved.
- The goal is to raise a total of $1,000,000 on November 17th, 2011.
General Benefits and Background
- Online giving is the wave of the future. However, the infrastructure costs to set up and administer systems are significant. NevadaGIVES is licensed to use Razoo.com, which is a seasoned community giving day fundraising tool.
- There are a large number of Nevadans who very much want to engage with local charities. They just don’t know how. This campaign will help them start the journey of engagement.
- Community giving campaigns have been successfully executed in other cities around the U.S. with stunning success. Nevadans are not likely to be upstaged.
Constituent/Community Involvement Opportunities
- Nonprofits – This campaign will give current donors a chance to deepen their relationship with charities and bring new donors to the table. (History indicates upwards of 30 percent of the donors are new.) Only registered 501(c)(3) organizations can participate.
- Institutions – The giving day helps institutions engage their employees and customers in the community. The campaign creates and magnifies a portfolio of tools that can be right sized.
- Individual Donors – Nevada's BIG GIVE creates a platform that allows donors to share their passions with friends and family in a comfortable way. That, in turn, invites new donors to the table.
- The Media – This campaign helps media lift up community involvement in general rather than being forced to pick a “favorite” with their limited resources. The issue becomes bigger.
Request
- Plan to be involved with Nevada's BIG GIVE today.
- Institutions and individuals are asked to consider funding the campaign “admin” monies/seed capital necessary to cover technology, gift processing, user training costs and PR. Costs are expected to be 10% or $100,000 of our total $1 million goal.
- Matching and challenge gifts to magnify giving day excitement and generosity are also being sought. A $250,000 fund will get attention and be very impactful. All of these matching monies will be directed to the involved charities.
Note: Established in 2003, NevadaGIVES is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to increase awareness of philanthropy so more people give back in a way that is meaningful to them.
