Goodwill opened its 10th Albertsons based donation center in the parking lot of the Albertsons store on the corner of E. Charleston & Sloan on October 2, 2009. In October 2008, Goodwill of Southern Nevada opened five Goodwill donation centers at local Albertsons Sav-on stores. Just one year later, there are ten. “Albertsons Sav-on Pharmacy has a long tradition of supporting our neighbors in the greater Las Vegas area. We are proud to partner with an organization like Goodwill, who is providing such meaningful services such as job training and job readiness,” said Chuck Cummins, Albertsons Sav-on District Manager. “This partnership is truly changing lives,” said Steve Chartrand, President & CEO of Goodwill of Southern Nevada. “New donation centers are critical, especially now when Las Vegas’ unemployment rate is at an all-time high.” Goodwill turns “gently used” goods into jobs. Donations are sold at Goodwill retail stores and fund Goodwill’s mission of providing free job placement, education and training services to anyone in the community who needs help. Each new donation center generates enough funds to help place roughly four people into jobs every month. Since January 1st, 2009 Goodwill of Southern Nevada has helped more than 750 people get a job through its Career Connections center and provided free services to 3,800 community members. Goodwill currently has 8 retail stores and 22 attended donation centers. Albertsons Sav-on Goodwill Donation Centers E. Charleston & Sloan - NEW! Eastern & Horizon Ridge S.
